Apag Marangle, a Hain sa Bukid Feast of Kapampangan Dishes in Bacolor Pampanga!

This is the last and an equally mouth-watering part of my Pampanga series with the Electrolux Philippines Discover-E Food Tour. Check out my other Pampanga posts below if you missed it (I wrote it in sequence). It was getting dark and we had one more stop for this full day - time for dinner immediately after a delightful meryenda at Prado Farms! haha. I accepted the challenge to take a few bites on a full belly at the Apag Marangle (Hain sa Bukid) in Bacolor, Pampanga! I believe this Kapampangan Restaurant is the youngest kitchen we went to. They opened just 5 years ago and has another branch already in Mexico, Pampanga! You'll fall in love with owner Ms. Cherry Tan if you meet her =) I hope we had more time here but I shall be back for that buro, the buko pandan and the mais soup! Hehehe.

It was a bit dark already and my camera doesn't work well with my shaky hand at low light situations so pardon the pics.

Apag Marangle serves Kapampangan dishes in a palaisdaan setting.

We were ushered into a native-style bamboo dining table area.

It can accommodate a group of around 8 (to 10 small people) haha.

You'll have a view of the pond filled with tilapia and hito if you come here early. You can also ride the balsa.

The first cool thing I noticed were the banana leaf placemats that doubled into spill-proof menus. Hehe.

While waiting, we munched on boiled peanuts and camote.

Then all that food started coming O_O There's the Kapampangan dish (with Chinese origins) Humba - pork braised in yellow bean paste (P285).

This is Grilled Hito (catfish).

apag-marangle-pampanga.jpg

This is Suam Mais (corn soup in clay pot). Super sulit for P195 =) You can taste the labor that was put into making this and it's super good yummm...

apag-marangle-pampanga.jpg

I think this is Begukan (ribs and liempo cooked in pork & shrimp paste, P275).

It goes well with this! Buro and some fresh greens! You can take it home for P120 (Small) and P180 (Large).

apag-marangle-pampanga.jpg

This is the first time I've tried Buro and liked it so much! Hahaha.

apag-marangle-pampanga.jpg

Don't miss this awesome Buko Pandan juice! ;) Just drink it all! Hehe.

apag-marangle-pampanga.jpg

For dessert, we had a yummy Meyumuang Kamuti (P115, sweet potatoes).

Oh, I'm so excited to go back here for another food trip and to try out their other specialty dishes!!! So cheap too! Haha.
