Let's interrupt our regular programming and be mindful of our surroundings for a while =) Can you feel the heat around you? It's definitely summertime already in the Philippines! Where are you off to? Are you taking care of one of your most important assets to traveling? I'm talking about your FEET! Time to bring out those summer dresses, shorts (even for the guys here) and colourful but comfy flip-flops!
When in the Philippines, I know that you know that slippers are must-haves for the beach, malls and even treks haha. Do you have bright ones though that will go with your mood and color scheme for the summer? In comes the Caribbean Urban Safari Collection that was just launched this year!
I first saw this in SM Baguio when I was looking for slippers after my Mt. Pulag trip so it is sold nationwide, People! The company behind Caribbean was a former manufacturer for big footwear companies since 1995 and they decided to enter the flip-flop market last 2010. Their latest designs were suggestions from students and youngsters and you'll definitely feel it with the print haha.
When looking for slippers, I look for one that is comfortable,
affordable so you can buy as much as you need
and looks good on my feet! Haha. I tell you I try to have a picture of my feet with slippers or shoes per trip hehehe.
Well, it turns out that Caribbean slippers cost around 199 to 299 only and the composition of their material (after PIPAC analysis - the one for chemical analysis in Ateneo) is the same as a famous brand of imported slippers! You get the quality at an affordable price =) My friend says it's made of material that doesn't make your feet stink too unlike other slippers ;)
You also get to support a Pinoy enterprise and help our fellow Filipinos with every pair you purchase!
Caribbean claims that they have anti-slip technology in all their slippers - a major plus for me when traveling or hiking or trekking or doing what I normally do I always slip! So it's time to test its claimed durability as well! We'll know in a few trips. Haha. I've personally broken a few straps of some imported ones.. then reconnected them by fire only to have it break again hahaha.
I encourage you to just try it on - go to a Landmark or SM, look for it then check if a pair of Caribbean is enough for you ;) After all, the design is just a plus, the main thing for me is comfort.
So far, my few days of journey with it around the city has been fine. I'll take it to Bali with me this month to test the waters and the anti-slip thing hehe.
As for the design, it's not in the current selection but I've fallen in love with the wild color below too.. haha.
I'm also curious how my pair can help improve my posture =)
By the way, they also have slippers in the collection for men =)
I hope you enjoyed this break and segment. I just think you might be looking for flip-flops and deem it worth it to spend P199 for your own pair of Caribbean for your travels ;) Enjoy the summer holiday!

I'd love to hear from you! Tell me below: What do you look for in a pair of slippers? What are the common problems you encounter with your slippers? Do you use slippers or shoes more when traveling? Do you own a pair of Caribbean? Would you consider trying Pinoy-made Caribbean slippers? Do you buy the ones with classic or seasonal designs? Lastly, do you take pictures of your feet when traveling too or is it just me? Hahaha.
