One of my recent fun things to do in Seoul Korea is go to an eyeglass store and update my eye wear and buy contact lenses too! It is amazing that you can get the glasses after just 1 hour and the prices are so reasonable for the quality of the items and service 😊 Let me take you to Daesong AnKyeong in Nandaemun.
You just need Google maps or Naver to find them. Actually I saw others also recommend the Davinci brand in Myeongdong and the underground malls of Hoehyeon. But the Daesong AnKyeong one was the first store I went to and suited my schedule and location. I read they have a lot of Japanese tourist clients too so I gave them a try. If I’m not mistaken, it’s in an alley and if you see the building below, just turn right.
You will see a sign that says 2F. It can be a bit tricky if you have a luggage and have difficulty going up steep steps but it’s just one flight of stairs.
It was spacious inside although it might get crowded a bit due to the customers.
I was assisted by a younger personnel who can speak English. I also brought my glasses and old prescription so that they can verify the grade.
I could easily spend a few hours here haha. It already took me a while to choose the frame because I know from experience and prefer Korean made ones sold in the Philippines due to the lightness and durability of even the plastic ones.
He used a machine to test my grade also.
He recommended the latest “in” frame for me and I liked it 😅 The temple tips were incredibly bendable and the way he bent the nose tips made everything better (he even adjusted my old glasses to be more comfortable and even haha).
And so, I was told to come back after one hour! The glasses including frame and transition lenses only totaled around 85000 won! Then the Dailies Aquacomfort contact lenses are just at 21000 won a box (~900php, 2024) 😊
I went back again for this trip for a contact lens refill and I also asked if they could adjust my abused glasses since I bought them there hahaha 🥰
All in all, I am still looking forward to this activity for my future stock trips to Seoul. Maybe in a few months or years, there will be newer and lighter styles available for me. Pair it with Korean technological know how and service, I can surely carve out some time to go here again ☺️
