Potipot Gateway Resort - An Overnight Beach Trip and Accommodation Options for Family and Friends in Candelaria, Zambales!

Thanks to my mom's high school reunion, I was able to find out about this resort ideal for Potipot Island. There are so many corners to explore and room accommodations for different traveller types. It was an overnight stay at Potipot Gateway Resort well spent with my age group in the bunch and talking with one of the owners Tita Jhenn. We also spent a few hours in Potipot Island on the first day. Here's what happened during this trip.

 

12:20 p.m. This resort and Potipot is around 5 hours away from Manila - better to leave early morning. There's parking space for our coasters.

I loved the dramatic entrance with that red bridge. There's a restaurant/villa before this bridge that's still part of the property.

An overnight bag (not roll-on baggage) is ideal for this place.

We walked to the structure nearest the river. There are several accommodations to choose from and this was the farthest from the socials area (takes only 3-5 minutes to the beachfront, ideal for a good night's sleep). 

There are open areas for some bonding time at night on the 2nd floor.

 

This room fits around 2 comfortably but you can stretch to a few more people. (Riverside Villa - P3500 per room, min 2 pax, P800 per additional pax, max 7 pax)

This was ours. 3 occupied the bed then 3 more slept on mats. There's a room next to this that's nicer and can accommodate around 10 people they said. (Riverside Villa - P3500 per room, min 2 pax, P800 per additional pax, max 7 pax). There's a bathroom and shower - just room temp water.

There are several other properties in the resort (with their own flair) built by the other members of their family - Beachfront Villa, Log House Villa, Stone House Villa, Riverview Park Villa and Midhouse Villa. See the rates with pics here.

There's a big restaurant that can accommodate everybody. WiFi and signal was weak so I took this opportunity to just disconnect for a night.

We had our karaoke night here hehe.

There's a separate air-conditioned function room where we had our lunch the next day.

There's a pool and several interesting (and shaded) places beachfront - perfect for reading books and just sleeping haha.

 

 

 

 

Tita Jhenn said that the Beach Front Villa was the first property acquired. Underneath are the Japanese-style rooms (Beach Front Villa - P3500 per room, min 2 pax, P800 per additional pax, max 6 pax) and above it is the Attic (Beach Front Villa - P10000 per room, min 10 pax, P800 per additional pax, max 15 pax).

 

 

 

 

For bigger groups, I loved the Attic 2 located at the Riverside Villa (3rd floor, Riverside Villa - P20000 per room, min 15 pax, P800 per additional pax, max 25 pax). It's ideal for company outings, prenup shoot trips, reunions and bonding time with friends. They have consoles there and it comes with another bedroom for 2 people. Only downside is one bathroom for the bigger room but I think it's manageable. Other packages for 10 pax and above include an overnight stay at P2600 per pax or 3D2N stay at P4200 per pax with room, food, beverage and island tour). 

 

 

 

The beachfront is actually enough if you don't want to go to Potipot Island. For a day tour going there with snacks, lunch and island tour, that would cost P1050 here. They have their own boat and they can just pick you up when you're ready to go back.

 

 

The island itself was okay. The sand was beige and the water was murky..

 

 

There are cottages available for rent and there's a covered shower area.

 

 

 

 

 

I would still go for the beachfront near the resort and maybe just walk along the shore at sunset. For me, since I was free to roam around by myself, the best thing to do here is relax at the Potipot Gateway Resort, find your calming spot and do your own thing. Your room and shower is just a few minutes away if you go for a swim. The sand reminds me of Anawangin and Nagsasa coves (also in Zambales).
