I went on a 4D3N barkada trip to Coron. Our 2 full days of activity were spent with Coron Galeri. We didn't go much to super action sites because the goal was to chill with the girls and to catch some beach time. There was an option for a shipwreck tour or an island hopping tour for our last full day - we chose the latter haha. As I said, 2 days were not enough so I'm saving the rest of the activities in my open itinerary for next time. Our guide said that Malcapuya Island was now owned by the Boracay Regency group. I hope that when the time comes, the beach will still be as nice as it is now and open to the public. For now, Kuya said you can stay overnight here via camping and catch a very beautiful Coron sunset. Too bad we had to head back to Coron Town, which was more than an hour away, before it got dark. This was one of the nicest islands we went to - experience-wise and also thanks to Lagu =) As for food trips in Coron Town, we had dinners at Macario's Grill and Bistro Coron in a day to try that out.
1:50 p.m. Malcapuya Island is just around 15 minutes away from Banana Island where we had lunch.
A lot of boats were docked at the back. There's an island fee of P200 per person who visits but this was already included in our awesome Sun, Sea & Sand Ecotours Coron Galeri package.
This was the view from the nicer front beach. This was the accommodation in Malcapuya Island that I was talking about. I think there are no private comfort rooms though, little light and no airconditioning. You can stay here. I saw in TripAdvisor and blogs, you can rent a cottage for P500-P700 / person (non-aircon), P1000 / person (aircon), P300 / person (camping) or a private house for P10000 a night (there's a cliff house where the previous owner stayed). There's a comfort room (no hot water) near the basketball court.
Okay, so here were the day tables also for rent (already included in our tour). It was super hot when we came so this is the perfect hideaway-from-the-sun spot.
Despite the extreme heat (after my first buhawi experience in the Philippines), we went into the water briefly. We scurried out of there when our friend got stung by something. Haha. Other reviews said that Malcapuya is great for snorkeling and finding giant clams. I think the waves are a bit stronger here so I stayed on the beach and just started taking pictures.. Hehe.
The sand on the front beach was long and soft to walk at - better than all the islands we've been to so far in Coron. Without anything to do, we walked to one end.
3 p.m. It was just us, the sand and the water. It was the perfect location for sleeping on the sand with some tall rocks for shade
I loved this part of the trip. We just let loose and well, just let ourselves be giddy girls hahaha.
It was the perfect ending to a very fun and exciting 4 days in Coron.
For a while there, I wrapped myself in Lagu like a sushi roll and took a few breaths of peace. The Lagu beach blanket is that big! Haha. Plus, we didn't take much sand too when we left.
5 p.m. Time really flies fast when you're having fun =) We saw Smith Beach from a distance on our way back. It would be super nice if I extended this trip or come back soon. I'd super love to explore more islands!
I haven't relaxed like this with the girls for a long time already. I was glad I planned and documented this. It wasn't that hard, really, except for the failed food trips. Haha.
5:20 p.m. Kuya Dennis was waiting for us already at the dock to take us back to the hotel haha. That's it for Coron!
7 p.m. We headed to Macario's Grill for dinner. It was gloomy and they didn't have the Chicken Inasal which we came there for :( I completely lost my appetite while we were here.
and Grilled Tanigue (P200), which were not that worth it for me (or I was really bummed that there was no Chicken Inasal haha).. The food took a while and there are no tricys readily there as well and Kuya Dennis was not around =(
I think I was thinking of Santino's Grill and the baby back ribs hahaha. So we went there via another tricy - only to find out that it was also sold out :( I think our luck ran out in Bulog Island on this day hahaha.
Not a very bad ending, yah? Hahaha. 'Til my next trip! =)
