Someone asked me a few months ago, upon learning that I am a travel blogger, to pick the top five places I'd like to visit (somewhere I haven't been to). I couldn't answer her on the spot and I didn't want to at first. You see, I later found out that I was afraid that making a list would set things in stone. In that list, I put Belize, Iceland, Morocco, Germany and Italy in no particular order and I would very much want to go to those places still. One lesson that I remember from that exercise though was that I can always make other lists or expand that list when the inspiration strikes. Today, my ultimate dream experience is a trip to Barcelona, Spain!
- I talked to a stranger once in a coffee shop in Manila and (again) I talked about my passion for travel. He turned out to be a Spanish national and he told me all about his travels all over the world. I learned about tapas and siestas in Spain. That got me interested.
- I love learning about a language. I love speaking another language. I can speak Filipino, English, Mandarin and Fookien. Exploring Asia is so much fun and convenient because I can understand Chinese. Talking to locals and connecting with people is part of the journey. Learning basic Spanish, Korean and Cantonese are next on my list.
- Apart from being a travel blogger, I am also a contest blogger. I have another blog called Girl Kuripot and I hunt for travel contests for Filipinos. Joining contests got me an all-expense paid trip to Japan last February and I wouldn't mind winning this again. In one of the contests that I joined and featured, I found out about Antoni Gaudi and I got a glimpse of Park Guell. I put it in my Definitely-To-Go List immediately.
- I was born in the Philippines and we studied the Spanish period for years in school. The Filipino culture and language definitely has Spanish influence. I'd like to see Spain for myself.
If I had the freedom to do my itinerary - any or all of these things and more...
